The first story in the new book introduces us to Terry Scanlon, an experienced employment lawyer who is tenacious, confident to the point of cockiness, and who enjoys being a smartass in his confrontations with his opposing counsel (this character sounds familiar to me for some reason). Terry has been comfortable and feels in control of his chosen world. That comfort lasts only for the first fleeting moments of the story. Then Terry’s world is turned upside down. All control is gone as he finds himself living in a world he doesn’t recognize. How so? His career is taken, his life is going to change in big ways, and even his family isn’t what he thought. And he has no home. Nothing around him is what he thought it was. The new world is a place where nothing is what he believed it was, and his former stability and comfort have been replaced by shock and endless vulnerability. Consider this as you discover a crazy, unexpected, and disconcerting new world from which there seems to be no exit, along with Terry. Enjoy!
